Activations Initiative Overview
The purpose of the Activations process is to ensure every merchant is successfully onboarded, confident using their payment solution, and positioned to begin processing transactions as quickly as possible. While each activation call may vary based on the merchant's circumstances, there are three non-negotiable objectives that must be achieved whenever transaction volume has not yet been confirmed in CRM.
Non-Negotiable Activation Requirements
1. Confirm Transaction Processing
- If no transaction volume has been confirmed in CRM, the representative should ask the merchant to process a live transaction during the activation call.
- The merchant can void the transaction afterward if needed.
- This provides immediate confirmation that the terminal is functioning properly and gives the merchant hands-on experience using their device, increasing confidence and supporting future transaction volume.
2. Verify Terminal Deployment
- Confirm that the merchant is actively using the payment terminal that was deployed to them.
- This ensures the correct equipment has been installed and is operational while helping identify any setup issues early in the process.
3. Reinforce Ongoing Support
- Ensure the merchant knows how to obtain assistance after the activation is complete.
- Provide the appropriate support phone number and email address, and confirm the merchant understands these are available should they need technical or operational assistance.
Goal of the Activation Process
Every activation should leave the merchant with:
- A successfully verified payment terminal.
- Confidence in completing a transaction independently.
- Knowledge of where to receive support if questions or issues arise.
- A clear path toward continued transaction processing and ongoing payment volume.
- A focus on engaging merchants within the first 10 days of approval, as this is a critical window for driving successful activation, reinforcing proper terminal usage, and increasing the likelihood of establishing consistent processing behavior.
